MacBook Pro with M2

Even as software is the prime focus of such developer conferences, Apple may also make a hardware announcement today. According to rumours, Apple will unveil a new MacBook Pro with the M2 chip. The company is said to showcase new MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch models. Reports suggest new MacBook Pro models could go on sale in the second half of this year as the company is facing component shortages. The delay could also push the availability to 2020.

iOS 15

iPhone users can expect a preview of the next iteration of Apple’s operating system. Dubbed iOS 15, the next OS update will bring improved messaging functionality and UI tweaks for a better user experience. Apple may also double down on privacy features with the new update.

iPadOS 15

Apple is said to be working on a revamped home screen design for iPad users. It will also bring support for the placement of widgets. The company may also introduce an improved multitasking system for better usage of the larger screen.

Developers focus

Apple WWDC 2021 conference also comes amid the legal tussle with Epic Games over the App Store policies. Apple has faced criticism from many top developers over its 30% cut on App Store payments. The company, however, has made some changes to its policies. Earlier this year, Apple rolled out a lower commission policy for some developers as part of its Small Business programme. At today’s event, Apple may announce new schemes to woo the developers’ community.
